NursingBff vs DoctorCrush: who wins in a trivia showdown?

Hello, everyone! Welcome to another episode of NursingBff vs DoctorCrush: who wins in a trivia showdown? In case you’re new here, this is a blog where I challenge my best friend, who is a nurse, and my crush, who is a doctor, to answer trivia questions related to their fields. The winner gets bragging rights and a free coffee from me. The loser has to do something embarrassing that I choose. Sounds fun, right?

Today’s trivia topic is: anatomy! I know, I know, this might seem like an easy one for both of them, but trust me, I’ve prepared some really tricky questions that will make them sweat. Let’s see how they do!

Question 1: What is the name of the largest bone in the human body?
NursingBff: That’s easy, it’s the femur.
DoctorCrush: Yeah, I agree, it’s the femur.
Me: Correct! You both get a point. The femur is the thigh bone and it can support up to 30 times the weight of a human body. Impressive, huh?
NursingBff: Yeah, yeah, let’s move on to the next question.
DoctorCrush: Don’t be so impatient, NursingBff. You’re just afraid I’ll beat you.
NursingBff: Ha! In your dreams, DoctorCrush.

Question 2: What is the name of the smallest bone in the human body?
NursingBff: Hmm, I think it’s the stapes.
DoctorCrush: No, it’s not. It’s the malleus.
Me: Sorry, DoctorCrush, but NursingBff is right. The stapes is the smallest bone in the human body and it’s located in the middle ear. It’s also called the stirrup because of its shape. The malleus is another bone in the middle ear, but it’s slightly bigger than the stapes.
NursingBff: Ha! Take that, DoctorCrush. You’re not so smart after all.
DoctorCrush: Hey, that was a hard question. Anyone could have made that mistake.
Me: Sure, sure. Let’s see how you do with the next one.

Question 3: What is the name of the muscle that allows you to wink?

NursingBff: Oh, I know this one. It’s the orbicularis oculi.
DoctorCrush: Yeah, me too. It’s the orbicularis oculi.
Me: Correct again! You both get another point. The orbicularis oculi is a circular muscle that surrounds the eye and allows you to close your eyelids. It also helps you wink and blink.
NursingBff: Wink wink 😉
DoctorCrush: Blink blink 😑
Me: Haha, you two are hilarious.

Question 4: What is the name of the organ that produces bile?
NursingBff: That’s easy too. It’s the liver.
DoctorCrush: Yeah, I agree. It’s the liver.
Me: Wrong! You both lose a point. The organ that produces bile is not the liver, but the gallbladder. The liver only stores and secretes bile into the small intestine when needed for digestion. The gallbladder is a small sac-like organ that sits under the liver and collects bile from it.
NursingBff: What? No way!
DoctorCrush: That can’t be true!
Me: Oh yes it is! Don’t believe me? Look it up!
NursingBff: Fine, I’ll look it up…oh wow, you’re right.
DoctorCrush: Me too…I can’t believe it.
Me: Ha! Gotcha!

Question 5: What is the name of the tissue that connects muscles to bones?
NursingBff: Um…I think it’s tendons.
DoctorCrush: No, it’s not. It’s ligaments.
Me: Sorry again, DoctorCrush, but NursingBff is right. Tendons are tough bands of fibrous tissue that connect muscles to bones and help them move. Ligaments are similar but they connect bones to other bones and help stabilize joints.
NursingBff: Woo hoo! I’m winning!
DoctorCrush: No fair! You’re cheating!
NursingBff: How am I cheating? You’re just a sore loser.

And that’s the end of today’s trivia showdown! The final score is: NursingBff: 4 points, DoctorCrush: 2 points. Congratulations, NursingBff, you are the winner! You get bragging rights and a free coffee from me. And DoctorCrush, you are the loser. You know what that means, right?
DoctorCrush: No, what does it mean?
Me: It means you have to do something embarrassing that I choose. And I choose…you have to wear a nurse’s uniform and take a selfie with NursingBff!
DoctorCrush: What? No way!
NursingBff: Yes way! That’s hilarious!
Me: Come on, DoctorCrush, don’t be a chicken. It’s all in good fun.
DoctorCrush: Fine, fine. But only if you promise to delete the photo after.
Me: Sure, sure. I promise. Wink wink 😉

Well, that’s all for today, folks. I hope you enjoyed this episode of NursingBff vs DoctorCrush: who wins in a trivia showdown? Stay tuned for more fun and games next time. And remember, don’t take life too seriously. Laugh a little. Bye for now!
